Manufactured Homes Program

People who reside in manufactured homes are at special risk in terms of fire. Homes older than 1976 are especially dangerous in terms of fire safety as they were built before significant new safety standards were required.

Fire travels extremely fast due to the high combustible load, lack of sheetrock which slows the spread of fire, and metal skin which keeps the heat in.

The department is developing brochures and a coordinated public safety task force approach to address the high risk issues present in manufactured homes.

For more information contact the department at 763-767-4003.
