About
the Department

The Spring Lake Park - Blaine - Mounds View Fire Department is a paid-on-call volunteer response fire department that delivers a variety of services. To do this, we employ many people in various capacities. Included are nine administrative staff, 61 suppression volunteers, and 4 prevention volunteers. As a nonprofit corporation that contracts for fire, we also have a seven member board of directors made up of community representatives and two members of the department. Over the years, literally hundreds of people have tried their hand at being a volunteer firefighter some making it and some not. Of special note are all of those who have served and retired. To date, we have 37 members who have given 15 to 30 years of dedicated service. Finally, while not employees of the fire department, the five fire marshals that work for the three cities we protect play an integral role in our operation and must be included as part of the department operation.
